NPAO Vision

Transforming health care for Ontarians through Nurse Practitioner innovations.

NPAO Mission

The Nurse Practitioners’ Association of Ontario is the professional voice for Nurse Practitioners in Ontario. Our mission is to achieve full integration of Nurse Practitioners to ensure accessible high quality health care for all.

NPAO Goals

  1. Leads legislative, regulatory and policy change enabling Nurse Practitioners to transform health care delivery to individuals, families and communities.
  2. Supports professional development of Nurse Practitioners and provides advice to members on a range of professional issues, including advocating for health and healthy public policy.
  3. Strengthens Nurse Practitioners’ roles as leaders within the health care system and promotes awareness of Nurse Practitioner full scope of practice with the public to ensure the role is understood, respected and optimized.
  4. Acts as a resource for health care organizations on the leadership role that Nurse Practitioners play as providers of access to comprehensive holistic health care within the publically funded not-for- profit heath care system.
  5. Addresses social, political, environmental and economic issues related to health, health care and the delivery of nurse practitioner services, in partnership with the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario.
