Position Statements

Consistent with the mission of NPAO to advocate for integration of the nurse practitioner role throughout the health care system, NPAO prepares position statements on critical health care and health system issues.

  The NPAO Board recently decided to remove the Team-Based Bonuses position paper from the NPAO website.  A recent Cochrane Review released in September 2011, demonstrated that there is inconclusive evidence at this time to support incentive payments in terms of improved health outcomes in primary care and, in addition, may not be a financially-sustainable option.
  NPAO will continue to advocate on behalf of our members for the fair remuneration of nurse practitioners working in all specialties in Ontario.
