Practical Resources to Support Geriatric Assessment in the Primary Care Setting

Description: We will highlight best practice clinical resources and assessment tools to help support the assessment of the older adult who may be aging with complex medical conditions and geriatric syndromes.
Speaker names/bios:
Mary Jemmett, NP –Currently working in the role of NP for the Nipissing Specialized Geriatric Clinic at the North Bay Regional Health Centre, North Bay & Parry Sound District Health Unit, and at the Thorne Nursing Station. Previously worked in the role of NP on a Complex Continuing Care and Dementia Unit at the North Bay Regional Health Centre, local Family Health Team, and as a faculty member at Canadore College teaching in the Honors BScN Program. Completed the Primary Health Care NP Program at Laurentian University in 1999. Completed the Masters in Nursing Generalist Stream at Athabasca University.
Shannon Cadieux, NP – Currently working in the role of NP and Clinical Lead for the Nipissing Specialized Geriatric Clinic at the North Bay Regional Health Centre. Previously worked in the role of NP with the Behavioural Supports Ontario program for 10 years and continues to provide some support across the Seniors’ mental Health and BSO programs. Completed the 5 weekend Care of the Elderly certificate course in 2019. Completed the Nurse Practitioner Graduate Diploma from Laurentian University in 2014.
