The Contraceptive Conundrum: Applying the Guidelines to Practice

After this program, participants will be able to:
- Understand the impact of needs-based contraceptive counselling
- Identify suitable patients for LARC, and successfully respond to patient questions and concerns regarding the insertion procedure and post insertion worries
- Provide practical interventions for post insertion problems and nuisances
Speaker: Meaghan Allen, NP
Meaghan did her undergrad at Trent University, then went on to pursue the Primary Care Nurse Practitioner certificate at Queens University, and a Master of Science in Nursing at the University of Ottawa. Meaghan currently works in a Family health team in Rural Ontario and her experience as a NP involves extensive work with providing therapeutic abortion, Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence care.
Meaghan is a certified trainer for the SOGCs IUC preceptorship program, and through her interactions with learners, has been awarded the Residence Experience Enhancement award ’20 and The Regional Education Award ’21 from the Queens University Department of Family Medicine.
Meaghan is passionate about the Nurse Practitioner profession and shares her experience with learners as a course instructor at Queens for Roles and Responsibilities, and through events like this with colleagues.
