OCFP Palliative Mentor Program
The Ontario College of Family Physicians (OCFP) is pleased to let you know about the launch of a mentoring program to support clinicians in the delivery of high-quality Palliative and End-of -Life Care.
This new mentoring network builds on the successful work of the OCFP’s existing and well-established mentoring networks in mental health and addictions and pain. Initial groups will start in the South West and Hamilton, Niagara, Haldimand, Brant LHINs (Group 1); Central East and South East LHINs (Group 2); and North East and North West LHINs (Group 3). For each of these groups, at least two experienced clinicians are available to provide mentorship for this important clinical area. Mentorship is open to physicians, nurse practitioners, and pharmacists and will occur over the phone, by videoconference and/or in person where geography allows.
For mentees participating in the program, the mentoring relationship is designed to help increase confidence and competence in managing palliative and end-of-life care within a community context and provide a safe space for obtaining guidance and support.
Please visit the mentoring network webpage if interested, and the OCFP would be happy to provide any additional information. A link to the intake survey, is available on the OCFP website here: https://ocfp.on.ca/cpd/collaborative-networks/palliative-and-end-of-life-care-network or the team can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
