RN prescribing: seeking your feedback on proposed regulation changes
Earlier this month, the College of Nurses of Ontario’s (CNO’s) Council approved draft regulations that will:
- permit RNs to prescribe certain medication and communicate diagnoses for the purpose of prescribing; and
- impact nursing practice related to dispensing and administering medications.
We are collecting feedback on the draft regulation from December 20, 2018 to February 18, 2019. Visit our consultation page for more information, including the draft regulation.

All feedback received during the circulation is shared with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and is an important consideration in the government’s review and approval process. These regulations do not take effect until they receive approval from CNO’s Council and the Ontario government.
