OVERVIEW OF PRENATAL SCREENING IN ONTARIO – reviewing maternal serum screening and non-invasive prenatal testing

Description
The presentation will go over technical and clinical details involving prenatal screening, comparing sensitivity, specificity, results, follow-up actions and timelines of the various materal serum screening (MSS) options in Ontario (e.g.: eFTS and STS) to non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) . The presentation will highlight how to order testing and access resources for a clinical practice.
Objectives
Equip ordering providers with information and resources to ensure they are comfortable in ordering and counselling patients on all prenatal screening options in accordance with professional guidelines
Enable clinicians to differentiate between MSS and NIPT

Kate Gardiner, Senior Manager of Clinical Services (C)CGC
Originally from Toronto Canada, Kate Gardiner has been certified by both the Canadian Association of Genetic Counsellors (CAGC) and the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) for the past 10 years. As a genetic counsellor, she has had experience in Australian, Canadian and American healthcare systems, in hospital, private and laboratory settings, in the fields of preconception, prenatal, pediatric, adult and cancer genetics. She has been employed by LifeLabs for the past eight years, currently as the Senior Manager of Clinical Services
