Periods, Paps and Pregnancy Planning: A Sexual and Reproductive Health Discussion

Description

This will be an interactive, case-based presentation with Q&A throughout. In addition to covering contraception and heavy menstrual bleeding, Dr Konia Trouton will also discuss the new PAP and HPV guidelines in a practical format with something for everyone. Dr Trouton is a dynamic, interactive speaker and will be sharing pearls for everyday practice with real life solutions.

Program Objectives:
• Consider period management options
• Incorporate cervical screening tools
• Modify practice with updated Contraceptive Guidelines
• Disseminate online resources for patients

About Dr Konia Trouton
Now based in Toronto with a focus on empowering patients with choice, Dr. Trouton is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Family Practice at UBC, and is cross appointed at UVIC and U of C. She completed medical training at the Queen’s University in 1990, residency in Calgary and holds a Masters of Public Health from Harvard. She worked in both epidemiology and various family planning clinics in Alberta, Ontario, New Brunswick, Nunavut, and Victoria, where she founded the Vancouver Island Women’s Clinic in 2003. Over the last 30 years, she has participated in many research and teaching initiatives in contraception and abortion care.
