The Bloody Truth About Wounds

Speaker: Jenny St. Jean, NP, MClSc-WH

Jenny graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in Ottawa 2009.  Soon after began her skin and wound specialization in the Ottawa community.  In 2013, she completed a Master of Clinical Science in Wound Healing which led her to provide consultations and education to allied health and with Project Medishare in Haiti.  She after joined the 3M Clinical Team where she provided interprovincial education and hands on training to nurses for assessment, treatment and management of venous stasis, lymphedema, and compression therapy.  To better support her community, in 2017 she completed a Master of Nursing – Nurse Practitioner degree in Winnipeg, MB.

Throughout her nursing career, she has had the opportunity to be a committee member with the RNAO Wound Care interest Group (OntWIG), Champlain Diabetic Foot Ulcer Reduction group, WRHA wound care education group, Winnipeg Home Care Community of Practice group, the WRHA Conservative Sharp Wound Debridement group, and lastly a stakeholder in the 2013 RNAO Best Practice Guideline (BPG) “Assessment and Management of Foot Ulcers for People with Diabetes”.

Jenny had the honor of presenting about different wound etiologies at the Ottawa Chapter Ontario Family Practice Nurses Group Education Day and Wounds Canada (Formerly known as the Canadian Association of Wound Care) for her RNAO fellowship and her Master of Clinical Science in Wound Healing poster presentation: Knowledge mobilization: creating change in clinical practice.
