Let’s Be Clear! – NPAO has released the following statement on evidence-based practice.
As a regulated health profession rooted in science and evidence, Nurse Practitioners acknowledge and deeply appreciate the trust which members of the public place in us. We know our patients look to us to support and guide them to their best health. Providing counselling and support to patients and their families, and providing routine immunizations is an integral part of the health promotion efforts which Nurse Practitioners provide. In this context, health promotion also includes promoting mask wearing and handwashing as effective strategies to reduce the spread of COVID-19 to protect the most vulnerable in our communities. We do not support the sharing of misinformation as we carry-out our duties to patients as Nurse Practitioners.
